ePortfolio - Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a Career ePortfolio?
It is a collection of selected samples of your best work that demonstrates your professional knowledge, abilities, talents, achievements and experiences.
- Why do I need a Career Portfolio?
First and foremost, your Portfolio gives you a place to keep your "important information" so it is readily accessible to you. It can be a measure of your progress showing you what you have done and what you still have left to do to maximize the achievement of your career goal. It can provide your advisor with information that will assist your advisor in helping you achieve your goals. It will provide you information that will assist you in your job search, i.e. writing your cover letter and resume, completing applications and
preparing for interviews.
- What will the Portfolio be used for?
You use your Portfolio to show others, such as advisors, employers, graduate school selection committees, what you have accomplished, learned and produced. You can download relevant information as a paper copy or burn it onto a cd that you can give to prospective employers, graduate schools, etc.
- Who will have access to my Career Portfolio?
UMPI faculty and staff, including your advisor, professors and supervisors.
- Will other students be able to access my Portfolio?
NO. Your personal ePortfolio is password protected so other students will not have access.

Look on the first page, select a site and click on it. We recommend that you start at the top, click on "What I'd Like My Advisor To Know About Me" and answer with a short essay.
