How to create and update your ePortfolio.
The ePortfolio was designed (and setup) so that it is easy for an UMPI student to create or modify their ePortfolio. But to do that the student has to be in an UMPI computer lab when they do this. It can't be done from home (technically you can, but it is complicated and you have to be a geek to do that). You will also have to use Internet Explorer.
- ePortfolio can be worked on only from an UMPI computer lab. Students will not be able to work on it from home (unless you are a geek).
- The very first time 'Setup your ePortfolio' (Go to Start...Programs...Instructor Links...ePorfolio). You will not have to do this again (that is unless you want to start all over again)
- Use Internet Explorer (Netscape Navigator will not do) and access your
ePortfolio by selecting this link .
- You can edit and save all the documents (MS Word files) from within Internet Explorer.
- To add contents to (or modify) a Power Point file the file has to be opened using MS Power Point (accessing the file through Internet Explorer will not work).
The ppt files are:
1. H:\www\ePort\portfolio\scans.ppt - Photographs/Scans of Creative Works
2. H:\www\ePort\portfolio\works.ppt - Creative Works-Press Releases, Brochures, Art Projects, etc.
- See the directory structure (how directories and files are organized) for the ePortfolio files.
The bottom line: If you are a student and want to create or modify your ePortfolio, you have to be doing it from any of UMPI's public computer labs.
If you insist on doing it from home, here is the required information:
