Federal and State Financial Aid
The University of Maine at Presque Isle provides various forms of financial assistance to students showing a
financial need. The Office of Financial Aid is often able to combine several available programs into a single
package. Prospective students who are interested in Financial Aid should apply for aid early as possible after
January 1st.
Aid Eligibility
Any United States citizen or permanent resident enrolled or planning to enroll in an academic program at the
University of Maine at Presque Isle is eligible to apply for federal financial assistance. To be considered for
federal aid, one must be accepted into a degree program and meet all of the eligibility requirements established
by the federal government.
Application Procedures
The University of Maine at Presque Isle requires that students complete the Free Application For Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) which must be submitted to the Federal Student Aid Programs in accordance with
instructions on the form. This form is available from the University Financial Aid Office or at high school
guidance offices.
Students should submit their applications at the earliest possible date. Financial aid awards are made on a
rolling basis in the order that application files become complete in the Financial Aid Office, with priority
given to students who complete their file by April 1.
Satisfactory Academic Progress
Federal and State regulations require that students receiving federal financial aid maintain satisfactory
academic progress toward completion of a degree. If the minimum satisfactory progress is not met, the
