When you register, you assume responsibility for paying all tuition and fees associated with your registration. You must pay even if you did not attend a single class unless you have dropped your courses according to the published deadlines.

When are university charges due?

University charges are due no later than 4:30 p.m. on August 15, 2008. Bills dated after August 5, 2008 are due within ten days. The billing date is located at the top left of your bill. Past due bills will be subject to late payment fees of up to $50.00. Late payment fees are assessed on a monthly basis in $25.00 increments. The university reserves the right to cancel any registration for which payment is not received.

What if I am getting financial aid or student loans?

Students applying for financial aid should have all required paperwork into the Financial Aid Office by the bill due date. Notifying the Business Office of your completed financial aid file will avoid a late payment fee. Canadian students expecting a student loan may avoid a late fee by supplying the Business Office with a copy of their Financial Aid Assessment Notice by the bill due date. Any balance not covered by financial aid or a student loan is due by the due date. This balance is subject to the late payment fee.

What payment methods are accepted by the university?

Payments may be made to the university using cash, personal checks, bank checks, money orders, MasterCard and Visa debit and credit cards. Checks should be made payable to "University of Maine at Presque Isle." To ensure proper crediting, your name and student identification number (usually your social security number) should be noted on the face of the check. Canadian students should make payment with a U.S. dollar bank draft or money order. Do not mail post-dated checks without prior approval from the Business Office.

What if my university bill will be paid with a scholarship or by a third party?

If an employer, outside agency, or an outside scholarship will be paying your charges, you must send written notification and documentation to the Business Office by the bill due date. The university will bill the authorizing party. If, for any reason, the university is unable to secure payment, you will be responsible for the charges.
