Our Faculty Anja Whittington, Ed.D., Assistant Professor of Recreation and Leisure Services Education: B.S. (University of New Hampshire); M.E.d. (University of Maine); Ed.D. (University of Maine), Maine Guide in Recreation, Instructor for Wilderness First Aid and First Responder Contact: 213 Normal Hall; (207) 768-9537, whittina@umpi.maine.edu Teaching: Dr. Whittington teaches core courses in the Recreation and Leisure Services department and teaches outdoor skills courses. Her favorite courses to teach are Natural and Cultural Resource Protection and Canoeing/Canoe Camping skills on the Allagash Wilderness Waterway. Hobbies/Interests: Kayaking, Reading, Swimming and Mountain and Road Biking Quote: "I hear and I forget. I see and I may remember. I do and I understand." Confucius  Lenny Cole, Adjunct InstructorEducation: B.S. in Health, Physical Education and Recreation (University of Maine at Presque Isle) Teaching: Mr. Cole has taught for 38 years in the Fort Fairfield School District. At UMPI he teaches the Introduction to Rock Climbing course in the Spring and leads trips for the outing club.
