An Aroostook County
resident, Zak didn’t travel far
for a college education. But ever since he stepped foot on campus, he’s been going places! The latest destination—California, with his professor and two fellow students for a PeopleSoft conference.
Zak, a Management Information Systems student, has been an integral part of UMPI’s PeopleSoft On Campus Program, a project that brought 1.8 million in software and training to the Business Department to infuse technology into its current curriculum. Unlike most other schools, UMPI is utilizing students to install and maintain the software, giving these students an incredible learning opportunity.
PeopleSoft invited these students and their professor to San Francisco to act as “experts” in the Meet the Customer area on the exhibition floor. They managed to sneak in a few of the other sights while there.
An involved student, Zak is president of the Student Senate, an active member of the Business, Accounting & MIS (BAM) Club, and the University’s student representative to the Board of Trustees. But at heart, he’s just a “techie.”
