College has been
one adventure after another
for Amber, a Presque Isle native who chose to get a great education in her own backyard. Beyond her class work in Elementary Education, Amber has immersed herself in campus life, from writing for the student newspaper to playing leads like Lady Macbeth in student productions. Twice she has attended the National Undergraduate Literature Conference in Utah as a presenter (pictured with fellow UMPI presenters).
For Amber, learning goes way beyond the four walls of the classroom, and she credits UMPI’s Honors Program for nurturing her adventurous spirit. “The program has encouraged me to actively explore my education—to think critically and be involved with my community.” Amber hopes to create a similar environment for her future students when she takes on the role of teacher in an elementary classroom.
