leah.jpgLobster anyone?
Leah can get some for you!
A junior physical education major, Leah is a native of Swan's Island, where she grew up on the water lobstering with her dad and nine siblings. During the summer, she still helps her brothers with their lobster traps and recently bought her own boat, Miss Busy Bee, in which she tends to her own 130 traps.

When she isn't on the water, you can find this dedicated athlete on the soccer field or basketball court, playing for the Owls. She learned this dedication in high school, when she had to take the 6:45 a.m. ferry every morning to get to school, and then board with locals during sports seasons. Her dedication spills over into her academic life and extra curricular activities too.

Her love of athleticism and activity brought her to the University's physical education program, where she is learning to be a physical education teacher. Leah is an active member of the Physical Education Majors Club, and is also helping to plan the grand opening of the new Gentile Hall. She will be a Resident Assistant in the spring. Leah just never stops!

After graduation, she plans on using her abundant energy to engage young children through physical education classes to understand the value of being active for a lifetime of good health. But once school is out, look for her out on the open seas continuing the family tradition of mining the ocean floor for Maine gold. Lobsters!
