ASSISTANT DIRECTOR/ ACADEMIC COORDINATOR
The University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) seeks an Assistant Director/ Academic Coordinator for the two federal grants it has been awarded, one in cooperation with the University of Maine at Fort Kent (UMFK). The Assistant Director/ Academic Coordinator is responsible for supervising two academic counselors, all tutors and summer instructors, meeting with a caseload of students for academic counseling and advising, coordinating all tutoring and the academic component of the 6-week summer residential program, needs assessment, presenting workshops and planning events to meet student needs, fundraising, transporting students to college visits and cultural events as needed, and assuming administrative duties of the projects in the absence of the Director.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree strongly preferred) in education, counseling, social work, administration or related field, and three years experience in teaching, education administration, counseling, academic advising, or program design working with adolescents. Frequent travel is required, along with a valid driver’s license. A personal background or working experience with students and families who are educationally and/or economically disadvantaged is required. Also requires strong management skills, excellent communication (listening, written, verbal, and presentation) and interpersonal skills, experience working with public schools, experience working with or teaching adolescents, computer skills with word processing and data bases, as well as strong leadership, planning, assessment, organizational, teamwork, and human relations background. Successful experience with fundraising preferred.
This is a professional, non-represented position. Some evening and weekend work is expected, along with travel to local, state and some regional or national meetings or training. Competitive compensation and benefits package (min. $33,500 annual salary).

The University of Maine Presque Isle is seeking candidates for the position of Director of Athletics. The Director is responsible for overseeing the department of athletics, its fiscal resources; ensuring compliance with all relevant institutional, NAIA and NCAA rules and regulations; developing and continuously updating a strategic plan for the department; marketing and promoting the athletics program, raising funds for the program, and building relationships with alumni and other potential donors; assuring the academic success of student-athletes through a method of advising, tracking and evaluating progress and screening, hiring, evaluating and supervising coaches.
The University of Maine Presque Isle is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Sunrise Conference and competes at the NCAA Division III level. The university currently supports twelve sports, comprising six men's and six women's teams.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited university with a minimum of a master's degree required and three to five years intercollegiate athletic administration, head coaching and/or recruiting experience required. The successful candidate must also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and knowledge of and a commitment to, NCAA rules and regulations and Title IX. A commitment to fund-raising, marketing and public relations is expected.

Sign Language Interpreter |

The University of Maine at Presque Isle is seeking a certified Sign Language Interpreter to assist a deaf student. The position (part-time regular for the academic year 2007-2008) is available immediately.
The position will provide interpreting services in a wide variety of settings and situations ranging from on- and off-campus to classroom and extra-curricular events while student(s) is enrolled in an academic, degree-seeking program. Adult consumers will include student(s) and peers, faculty, administrators, and campus staff.
Responsibilities will include providing sign to voice and voice to sign interpretation as well as occasional transliteration in one to one, small and large group, and platform settings.
Minimum qualifications: Must hold one or more of the following certifications from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf: Maine State Licensure, Comprehensive Skills Certificate, Certification of Interpretation or Certificate of Transliteration.
