Owls face Colby for last home contest |

In their last home contest, the UMaine-Presque
Isle Lady Owls battled the Mules of Colby College to a 65-53 loss in Wieden
Gymnasium on Tuesday night. UMPI (6-13)
led 32-23 at the half and was up 49-47 when Colby's Alison Cappelloni hit a
3-point shot for a 50-49 lead. With the
Mules up 52-50, Karlyn Adler hit a jumper in the lane and a 3-point shot to
bring the Colby lead to 57-50 with 4:17 remaining in regulation. The Colby women had an 18-4 run over the
final 5:30 to pull away from the Owls.
Senior captain Julie Wescott (Westbrook, ME),
in her last collegiate game, had a game high of 4 3-pointers, all in the first
half of play, en route to lead her team with 14 points. Junior forward Erica Davis (Cumberland, ME) chipped in with 13 points, while freshmen guards Megan Korhonen (Littleton,
ME) and Mindy Dolley (LeGrange,
ME) both added 7 points a
piece.
Cappelloni finished
with a game high of 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Mules. Meredith Aronson added 15 points, while Katie
McCabe chipped in 12 points and 14 rebounds.
The Owls finish their season at 6-13.

Lady Owls battle the Terriers |

The UMaine-Presque Isle women's basketball team was on the
road this past weekend to take on the Terriers of Thomas College. The game was kept close in the first half of
play, with the Terriers having only a one point lead at the half, 25-26.
The depth and quickness of Thomas College
was too much for the Owls to handle as they were defeated with a final score of
63-48.
Leading the way for the Owls was junior forward Erica Davis
(Cumberland, ME) who recorded a double-double with 18
points and 15 rebounds in 32 minutes of play.
Both totals were game highs. Davis also recorded 4
steals in the contest. Freshman Mindy
Dolley (LaGrange, ME) chipped in with 8 points and senior
guard Ashley Brooker (Limestone, ME) added 9 in the loss.
The Terriers of Thomas College were lead by Kellie Martel
with 12 and Lea NcNary with 10 points.
The Lady Owls move to 6-12 on the season.

Lyndonville, VT -
The UMaine-Presque Isle women's basketball team traveled a long way to Lyndonville, Vermont this
past Sunday and played a tough Lyndon
State team to a 75-63
loss. Senior Captain Julie Wescott (Westbrook, ME)
led her team with 20 points, including four from behind the three-point
arc. Freshman Megan Korhonen (Littleton, ME) added 16 points and four steals for her Owl team,
while Junior Erica Davis (Cumberland, ME)
chipped in with 15 points.
Leading the way for the Lyndon Hornets was Jackie Wetzel,
with 21 points and Jennifer White, adding 20.
The Owls drop to 6-11 on the season as they look to travel
to Thomas College on Sunday, February 17th. Game time is at 1:00.

UMPI Owls Soar Past the College of Saint Joseph, 62-48 |

STANDISH, ME - The University
of Maine-Presque Isle Women's Basketball team faced off against the College of Saint Joseph
Fighting Saints in the Merry Monk Classic, hosted by Saint Joseph's College
of Maine, and earned
their first win of the season, 62-48. Leading the way for the Owls was junior
forward Erica Davis (Cumberland,
ME) with a game high 19
points. Davis
also worked in the paint for 10 boards to achieve a double-double for the game
and nearly reached triple-double status as she grabbed 8 steals. Besides Davis' efforts, three other UMPI Owls
reached double-digit point figures; freshman guard Megan Korhonen (Littleton, ME) scored 15 points and grabbed 5
offensive rebounds, while teammates Anna
Lenentine (Monticello, ME) and Julie Wescott (Westbrook, ME) each
put up 10 points in the game. Senior
guard Ashley Brooker (Limestone, ME)
added 8 points. Leading the way for the
CSJ Fighting Saints was Irene Tompkins (Schenectady, NY),
who reached double digits in both points (16) and rebounds (14) notching a
double-double in a losing effort.
In the previous night's
contest, the Owls lost a heartbreaker to Green Mountain
College, 49-47, on an
Eagles jumpshot with 3 seconds left to go in the ballgame. UMaine Presque Isle Junior Erica Davis led the charge for the Owls with a
double-double effort (17 points, 11 rebounds). Ashley Booker shot 6-12 from the floor and
provided a solid effort with 16 points. Anna
Lenentine grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds for UMPI in the losing bid. UMPI moves to 1-4, finally earning their
first win of the young season.
"I am proud of how my team came
back to beat St. Joe's of Vermont on Saturday after losing a tough game the
previous night," commented Head Coach Tracy Guerrette. "I want my players to see every game as an
opportunity for growth and improvement, and we certainly learned a lot from the
Green Mountain game. If we stay focused on the process, the
results will take care of themselves."
In other news, Junior Forward
Erica Davis was selected to the Merry Monks Classic All-Tournament team for her
outstanding play over the weekend. Davis posted
double-double efforts in scoring and rebounding in both contests.

Isle, ME
- At Wieden gymnasium on Sunday afternoon, junior Erica Davis (Cumberland, ME) had a triple double with 16 points, 11 steals and
10 rebounds to lift her Owls team to a 81-33 victory over Unity College. Megan
Korhonen (Littleton, ME) led all scorers with 20 points,
earning 6 steals and five assists in the win.
Senior captain Julie Wescott (Westbrook, ME)
added 11 points, including two 3 pointers. Tiffany Dorsey's 10 points led
Unity.
With the win, the Owl women move to 6-9 on the season. UMPI looks to host rival Fort Kent
on Wednesday evening, game time is at 6:00.
