Saturday, 22 September 2007
Presque Isle, September 22 - The UMPI women's soccer team looked impressive as they defeated Southern Vermont College, 14-0, on Saturday during Homecoming weekend.  Leading the way for the lady Owls were Chelsea Boudreau (Wallace, NS) with 3 goals, Joanna Bubar (Riverview, NB) with 3 goals, Jessica Kinney (Caribou, ME) and Erin Pelletier (Madawaska, ME), each having 2 goals and 2 assists respectively.  Other goal scorers for UMPI were Anna Delong (Presque Isle, ME) with two, and Makayla Gahagan (Caribou, ME) and Mindy Dolley (LaGrange) each with one goal.

The Owls out shot Southern Vermont 44-0, as they pick up their second win and move to 2-4 on the season.  The UMPI women will be traveling to Farmington on Wednesday to take on the UMF Lady Beavers.  Game time is at 4:30 pm.

UMPI Women get their first win Print E-mail
Monday, 17 September 2007
The University of Maine at Presque Isle women's soccer team recorded their first win on Saturday, against Independent Conference rival Mitchell, with a final score of 2-0.  The Owls played a solid game under first-year coach Tammy Krul, and showed great improvement as they were able to capture a win in front of a home crowd.

The game remained scoreless for most of the contest until the 65th minute when Anna Delong, of Presque Isle, perfectly placed a direct kick into the upper 90.  Delong's goal is the first of the season for the Owls.  Katie Moody, also of Presque Isle, scored off an assist from Jessica Kinney to seal the victory for UMPI.  The goal is well deserved for Moody, who has had many close attempts all season long.

The Owls then traveled down to St. Joseph's College of Maine for a Sunday match-up that resulted in a 6-0 loss.  The Owls women were out shot 35-0 by the Monks, who by far is the toughest and most talented team that UMPI has faced all season.  Two Caribou natives were the "heroes" of the day; Keeper Billie Martin worked hard in goal posting 27 saves, and defenseman Makayla Gahagan did a tremendous job marking her opponents.

The Owl women are now 1-4-0 and will be back in action on Saturday, September 22, against Southern Vermont.  Game time is at 2:00 in Presque Isle.
