At the time when the Aroostook State Normal School opened, and up until the 1950's all students had to attend a mandatory chapel service each morning. For those who wanted to expand upon their religious studies and to share them with others, there have been a few different religious groups that the students could have joined. Following is a listing of those groups.

• Student Christian Association (SCA) - The SCA was started with the opening of the school in 1903. Through the SCA, it was hoped that students would develop a more Christian character and that they would realize and help others to realize the advantages of living the Christian lifestyle. From 1911 to 1923 the SCA was discontinued, but in 1923 the interest re-emerged, so the Student Christian Association was re-established on the campus of ASNS.

• The Newman Club - The Newman Club began in 1962 out of the interest of students to "deepen the spiritual, intellectual, and social interests of Catholic students," (Salmagundi, 1962). The Newman Club was later called the Newman Council.

• Inter/Varsity Christian Fellowship

• PrISM - Presque Isle Student Ministries
