Definition:
Reserve materials are items that circulate for limited periods of time at the
request of faculty/staff. These materials may be part of the Library collection
or personal items. Reserve items are located at the Access Services Desk. A validated
Student ID card must be presented at the desk when reserve materials are
being used.
Circulation periods vary: Most materials may NOT leave the Library
(Closed Reserve). A few may circulate (Open Reserve) for one (1) day, 3 days,
one (1) week or two (2) weeks.
Faculty wishing to put materials on reserve must bring those items to the
circulation desk, along with:
- Course Reserve Submission Form (for each
reserve list)
- Course Syllabis
For more information see Course Reserve Policy
or contact Nancy Fletcher
Types of Reserve Material:
Reserve categories are:
CLOSED: Materials on closed reserve are for library use only.
OPEN: Items on open reserve may leave the library for a period determined
by the faculty/staff member. (i.e. one day, 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks)
Prior Notice:

materials at least 3 days prior to student use. Reserve shelving is limited,
therefore library staff will strictly limit the number of copies of one title
that is placed on reserve. If you have any questions, call Nancy
Fletcher, extension 595; or John

ITV courses offered through UMPI are taped and placed on reserve for at least
one month. VCR monitors are available on the ground floor of the library for
