Another biology and geology display is this of Trilobites. Trilobites are primitive members of Phylum Arthropoda (jointed legs and exoskeletons) which live in marine environments and lacked specialized appendages. The trilobites became extinct about 250 million years ago, after inhabiting our planet for some 300 million years. The large variety of trilobites skeletons suggests that these animals lived in many habitats. Most trilobites were scavengers, similar to some modern crabs, but may have eaten worms and other soft-bodied animals. The museum has a fine collection of trilobites. |
