Prior to student teaching, the student must:
- Be admitted into the Teacher Education Program.
Note: Students wishing to enter the Teacher Education Program are eligible to apply upon the successful completion of 45 semester hours of required course work. Students seeking entrance into the program may obtain additional information from their advisors or the Office of Student Teaching.
- Complete a minimum of 90 credit hours of course work to include the required professional education sequence.
- Formally apply to the Director of Student Teaching at least one semester prior to placement and be approved by departmental faculty.
Note: Formal applications are available in the Office of Student Teaching.
- Have a 2.50 GPA cumulative average (minimum).
Have a 2.50 GPA in your major AND the professional sequence.
Have a 2.50 GPA the semester prior to student teaching.
Have completed all professional education courses.
Have satisfactory evaluations in all prior field experiences.
Has passed the PRAXIS I: Academic Skills Assessment test (reading, writing and math)
Have taken PRAXIS II.
Have completed the fingerprinting process.
