JoAnne Putnam, Ph.D, is a professor of Teacher Education at UMPI. She has extensive experience as a special education teacher and professor at several universities, including the University of Alaska Anchorage, and the University of Montana. She has authored books and articles, with special interest in strategies for inclusive education.

Gordon Porter has taught at UMPI since 1999. He has undergraduate degrees from the University of New Brunswick and did his graduate study at the University of Maine and at Syracuse University. A former teacher, principal and director of student services in Woodstock, NB, he was instrumental in creating an inclusive education approach there that has been in place for most of two decades. He is an internationally recognized expert on inclusive education. Professor Porter has worked as a consultant in many countries in the Americas as well as in Europe, Africa, India and New Zealand. He recently completed a paper on inclusive education and disability in Latin America and the Caribbean for the InterAmerican Development Bank. He is a member of the New Brunswick Human Rights Commission.
