Elementary Education, Bachelor of Science, Subject area major: English
The Elementary Education Major, requiring 128 credit hours, leads to the Bachelor of Science Degree. Graduates of the program are eligible for teacher certification by the Maine Department of Education. This certification is recognized by other states and Canadian provinces with whom Maine shares reciprocity. Elementary Education majors are also required to complete a liberal arts subject area major.

Students are requested to read the Teacher Education Program Requirements.

The Elementary Education Program is designed for students wishing to teach kindergarten through eighth grade. The program requires a General Education Core of 45 hours in the liberal arts, a professional sequence of 47 hours and a subject area major for specialization of 30-36 hours.

                                        All bachelor degree candidates must complete the General Education Core.
