The Secondary Education Major leads to the Bachelor of Science degree. Graduates of the program are eligible for teacher certification by the Maine Department of Education. This certification is recognized by other states and Canadian provinces with whom Maine shares reciprocity. To be certified to teach academic subjects in the Secondary School (grades 7-12), a student must have successfully completed the General Education Core, the professional education sequence, the subject area requirements, and the minor area requirements for a total of 128 credit hours. In addition to major requirements, all Bachelor of Science candidates must complete the General Education Core.
