IMPORTANT FLOOR DESIGNATIONS

Emerson Quieter Floor: The third floor of Emerson Hall has been designated a quieter floor.  Please do not sign up for the third floor if you do not wish to live on a quieter floor.

Merriman and Park Halls: Upper classmen who wish to remain in Park and Merriman Halls next semester may request to do so.  Because these buildings or designated for freshmen, upperclassmen may be moved to Emerson over the summer if space is needed.  The first floors of Merriman Hall and Park Hall are transition floors.  The gender of students staying on this floor may change depending on the number of male and female students who attend in the fall.  Individuals signing up for these floors will be moved in to a double room if the floor is converted to the other gender.  These floors may also be closed if the number of residents does not warrant it being utilized.

Skyway Suites: Four individuals will live in each suite .   Students must come in groups of two or four to sign up for the Skyway Suites .   The following conditions will apply to students wishing to reside in Skyway next fall: a) You must be at least 21 years of age by September 1, 2008; b) You must be in good judicial standing with the University (not on judicial probation and no alcohol write-ups since July 1, 2007); c) You will need to be responsible for your own transportation (Skyway is 2 . 4 miles/4 km from campus) .

Single Rooms:

Individuals wishing to sign up for a single room must provide a written medical excuse prepared by a medical professional . This medical excuse will be forwarded to the University's Health Center , for verification .   Individuals, who currently reside in a single room, must resubmit their request each year .    Individuals wishing single rooms must sign-up for a double room to start the process .   Placement in a single room will be done on or about August 1, 2008 .   This delay gives us an opportunity to receive requests from the new students and thus guaranteeing that the individuals most in need of a single receive one .   If you are at the top of the list, you will be moved into the next available single room .   There are 4 singles in Emerson Hall, 4 in Park Hall and 2 in Merriman Hall .

Triple Rooms:

Students wishing to reside in triples will need to bring their two future roommates with them when they sign up .   If one of the roommates cancels their agreement, the two remaining roommates will be moved out of the triple .   Individuals found responsible of an alcohol violation since July 1, 2007 will not be eligible to sign up for a triple room .   There will be no exceptions to this rule .

Special Meal Plan Waiver Information:

The meal plan is required for all resident students except for those living at Skyway or the Northern Road Family Houses. Our dinning service is capable of meeting the dietary needs of most medically documented special diets.  Students with special dietary needs must provide a doctor/dietitian approved detailed menu to the Director of Dining Services at the beginning of the fall term.  The Director of Dining Services will work with the student to provide the menu submitted.  The Director of Dining Services, in conjunction with the Director of Residence Life and the Director of Health Services will have the authority to make substitutions to the menu if the provided menu is seen as exorbitant or excessive in cost.  In the rare occasion that a special dietary need cannot be met, the meal weaver will be granted.

Refusal of Housing:

The Residence Life Office reserves the right to refuse housing to any student based on previous judicial history.  Appeals to these decisions will be forwarded to the University’s Conduct Code Board.

Agreement Cancellation Process:

Any student, who signs up for on-campus housing, must provide a written statement to cancel the agreement.  Requests postmarked or received in the Residence Life Office prior to June 1 will receive a full refund of their housing deposit minus any funds owed to the University.  Requests postmarked after June 1 will have their agreement canceled but will forfeit their housing deposit.  Student requesting to have their agreement canceled less than 28 days prior to the start of classes or after the start of the school year will lose their housing deposit, will receive refunds based on the Board of Trustee’s Cancellation Policy plus a 20% cancellation fee.
