Science and Math Presentations on 2007 University Day

The University of Maine at Presque Isle celebrated intellectual adventure during its sixth annual University Day, April 11. Students gave public presentations and talks relating to their academic research, scholarly work, and community service. The theme of this year's event was Planting Seeds: Education, Community and Service.

The purpose of the day is to heighten students' general awareness of the work being done by their peers not only in their own discipline, but also in each of the disciplines represented on campus. Students begin to get an idea of how disciplines inter-relate and how their academic work applies to service and the professional life of a community.  It is also an opportunity for students to experience a professional conference format. More than 36 talks have been scheduled for the day.

11 students presented and/or co-presented 6 diverse talks on environmental science, mathematics, archaeology, environmental chemistry, and glaciaogeology today. All of them did a great job. More than 80 students and faculty attended those presentations.
