Update on Dr. Bonnie Wood's "Lecture-free Teaching"

(November 2, 2007)

Dr. Bonnie Wood, Professor of Biology at the School of Science and Mathematics, has been awarded a contract by NSTA (National Science Teachers Association) Press to write a book entitled Lecture-Free Teaching: A Learning Partnership of Science Educators and their Students.  Lecture-free teaching is a term coined by Dr. Wood to describe the instructional method she has developed during the past decade.

In November, 2007, she will be leading a 75-minute hands-on workshop on lecture-free teaching at the National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT) Professional Development Conference, November 2007, Atlanta, Georgia.

In March 2008 she will give a presentation entitled “Erasing Lecture-Laboratory Boundaries: An Inquiry-Based Course Design”, at the National Meeting of Society for College Science Teachers (SCST) in Boston, Massachusetts.

The following articles, authored by Dr. Bonnie Wood, are recently published, in press or in review by peer-reviewed journals:
