Representatives of the Aroostook County Farm Bureau, Maine Agri-Women and the Northern Maine Museum of Science are establishing an Alvin Reeves Memorial Fund. Dr. Al Reeves was an Aroostook County potato breeder, University of Maine faculty member at the Agricultural Research Farm and Curator of Agriculture at the Northern Maine Museum of Science.

The Fund will be used to publish and distribute at least 10,000 copies of the Guide to Northern Maine Potatoes, which Dr. Reeves wrote for the Northern Maine Museum of Science in the several years before he died. This is a 36-page guidebook designed is answer most questions that might be asked by a layperson about northern Maine potatoes. The Guide will be distributed by major donors, the Museum and Maine Agri-Women for use in their agricultural bookbag sharing program. These books will be further distributed by Maine Agriculture in the Classroom through their agricultural education programs .

If sufficient monies are raised, the Fund will also support an Alvin Reeves Memorial Scholarship.
