Suggested problems for Chapter 11: 1-3.
Qu 1: Sun is 1.5 * 1011 meters away. If light travels at 300,000,000 m/s
then how long does it take for light to make the trip?
Ans. Velocity = distance / time
Time = distance / velocity = 1.5 * 1011 m / 3 * 108
Time = 500 seconds = 8.3 minutes

Qu 2: Distance Jupiter to Earth = 300,000,000 km (=300,000,000,000 m)
Time = 1000 seconds. What was the velocity?

Ans. v = distance / time = 3 * 108 km / 1000 s
= 3 * 108 km/s

Ans 3: Time = distance / velocity

= 4.2 * 1016 m / 3 * 108 m/s
= 1.4 * 108 seconds
Since there are 60 * 60 * 24 * 365 = 31536000 seconds per year
140,000,000 seconds / 31,536,000 = 4.4 years
