Why Lea became involved in the Honors Program:

I got involved with the Honors Program by taking the "design" seminar in which students literally (re)designed the program—and then we were faced with the hard part: trying to get teachers and honors courses and actually making our ideal into reality.

This student-centered focus is important so the Program tries to enable students to be active and involved at all levels (within classrooms and in administrative- type work on committees).

The Honors Program has provided huge opportunities for me— to present and publish papers, lead meetings, design curriculum, learn what goes into a university education from "behind the scenes" and, above all, to work with students and professors who are also interested and excited about "creating" education.
